Product Review: Glass Dreams Smooth Waves by Doc Johnson

April 29th, 2010

32258-1Ooo, what’s that?

Okay, seriously? What’s up with these eight inch toys having foot long names? This is the Glass Dreams Smooth Waves from Doc Johnson.  And the design is pretty spectacular.  Especially for a former marble collector like me.

What’d it come in?

It comes in a clear plastic box with blue lettering and white designs around the outside.  The dildo itself is nestled inside molded clear plastic for protection.

How’s it made?

So if you played marbles when you were a kid, or just collected marbles like me, you’ll remember the swirly colors inside those tiny glass balls.  Turning the glass round and round, holding it up to the light, trying to follow the path of the swirls inside.

I’ve spent a lot of time doing that with this toy.

It’s seven and one-half inches of clear glass with a red swirl that runs top to bottom, and a shiny, metallic coat on the outside that sort of resembles an oil slick, what with the rainbow circles and all.  Each end has a knobby ball that works well as a handle.  One is an inch wide and the other is about an inch and three-quarters.  And in the center are two graduated bulges that are each about an inch and a half wide.

Obviously, since it’s glass, it’s hard, dense, heavy, flavorless and scentless.  And the surface is smooth and cool to the touch.

What’s it for?

This dildo can be inserted in either direction (small ball first or large ball first) and is mostly meant for vaginal penetration.  The bulgy bubbles and firm shaft are great for stimulation of the g-spot, labia and vaginal walls.

Most people suggest not to use vibes or dildos that don’t have a wide base for anal use.  But generally speaking, on average people have about six inches of anal cavity before things just won’t go any further.  A seven and a half inch dildo probably isn’t going to get sucked all the way in.  So if you want to use it anally, just use caution.

If it weren’t for the fact that Carrie almost lost a plug once, and I almost lost a plug once, I’d question the theory altogether, because the butt book I’m reading by Jack Morin says not to worry about it.  He says it’s a myth.  That the vast majority of people who got stuff stuck pushed too hard and too far.

Jack, sorry bud, but you’re wrong.  At least with regard to a teeny, tiny butt plug with barely any base, anyway.

How is it?

There’s just something about glass, isn’t there?

There’s especially something about this glass because M has requested I use this one specifically at least half a dozen times and fully plans to use it in my ass some night.  There are only three other toys He requests specifically.  They are, in order of frequency, the Horsehair Tail, the Large Big Stuff and Couture Collection Sublime.

Maybe He had a marble collection when He was a kid, too?

In any case, I really enjoy using this toy.  Occasionally, I need a little warm up, but that’s just me.  My g-spot gets unhappy if I start pounding at it with something bumpy and hard before it’s ready.  Not everyone reacts that way.

Overall, though, I like the weight.  The bulges are perfectly spaced.  It’s a really good size for pretty much anyone.  And…

Oh! Look at the way it glows in the morning sun…

Anything else I should know?

This toy does not come with a storage bag, so if you like to keep your glass in their own bags, you’re going to have to purchase one for it.  But this toy’s only $25.94, so when compared to some others, that’s really not a big deal, I suppose.

Use whatever kind of lube your pretty little heart desires.

Use non-abrasive soaps.  Preferably anti-bacterial.  Bleach it, boil it, drop it in the top shelf of your dishwasher.

Feel free to share.

Always check for nicks and scratches before use.  Try not to drop this toy or bang it against other glass or metal toys.

You can use this toy for temperature play, just don’t microwave it.  Run it under warm water or stick it in the fridge (never the freezer!).   And don’t go immediately from one extreme to the other, or it might crack.

There are probably bubbles and lines in your glass toy.  As long as they’re beneath the surface, they’re fine.  Keep an eye on any that are close to the surface to make sure they don’t rupture.  Probably they won’t, so long as you don’t go banging the toy against other toys or hard things directly on the bubbles.  I’ve never had a problem.

Where’d ya get it?

This toy was provided to me free of charge in exchange for an honest review. You can pick it at LoveHoney.com. Don’t forget to check out their awesome deals. Click the banner below for details.

Gorgeous! I had a marble collection when I was a kid too, if I had this I’d probably be tempted to put it in boiling water then drop it into ice water to make it all crackly inside… that was the best, haha.

But I’m sure I could never bring myself to destroy such a beautiful toy.
