Product Review: Sex in the Shower Single Locking Foot Rest by Sportsheets

July 23rd, 2010

Ooo, what’s that?

I had high hopes for the Sex in the Shower Single Locking Footrest by Sportsheets.  Probably too high.

What’d it come in?

That white and blue cardboard box to the right.  Not at all discreet.  But probably a toy called “Sex in the Shower” can’t be packaged discreetly anyway.

How’s it made?

This foot rest is made of white plastic and rubber.  It’s meant to suction cup to your wall by way of a lever beneath the part you rest your foot on.  Pull the lever up until it locks into place while holding the heavy duty rubber suction cup against a flat surface, and it should hold in place while you’re doing just about anything.  We’ll get to that “should” below.

The foot rest is about six inches long, with about five of those reserved for your toes and the ball of your foot.  It’s five inches wide at its widest point, and contoured just right to accommodate most any width comfortably.

The suction cup has a diameter of four and one-half inches giving it a circumference of about fourteen and a quarter inches.

What’s it for?

It’s supposed to be for sex.  In the shower.  So, like, if you don’t have a high enough side to lift your leg comfortably, you can put your foot on this thing, and ease insertion.

How is it?

Rayne’s Rating:
Pros: Cons:
large strong suction cup slides down my wall
pops off my wall
doesn’t hold up to pressure on my wall
difficult to remove from wall (Oh, the irony!)
lever hurts my fingers

I have this teeny-tiny shower stall.  Even the size four living downstairs has issues in our shower stall (Our stalls are the same size.).  And the wall is texture-less vinyl.  So with nothing to rest my foot against to shave, I often shave either at the sink or standing outside the shower.  I had hoped I could start shaving in my shower with this thing, with all the good I’ve heard about it.

Maybe it’s my wall.  But I can’t see this working for someone with a wall with standard ceramic tiles, either.  I have standard ceramic squares in my kitchen, and they’re too small for the suction cup.  Just barely, but enough that it doesn’t adhere at all.

It can’t be that I’m too big.  I barely put any pressure on this thing.  I leaned most of my weight against the wall behind me, and my left leg, then rested my right foot in the footrest, and it just slid down the wall.  I leaned most of my weight on the wall in front of me, and my right leg, then rested my left foot in the footrest, and it slid half-way down the wall, then popped off.

I tried on a wet wall, a dry wall, a clean wall, a less-than-clean wall… No matter how I tried this thing, it just slid down the wall.

What’s comical about this is if I put it on the wall when the shower’s not in use, it stays there forever, and is next to impossible to remove… until I try to use it for its intended use.

If it wasn’t curved the way it is, I’d use it as a soap dish.  But alas, soap slides right off.  Odd, that.

So, like I said, maybe it’s my wall.  Or maybe there’s too much steam in the air in my bathroom.  Or… something.  But this thing doesn’t works for me.  And even if it did, the lever seriously hurts my fingers.  I cringe every time I use it.  Suckage.

Anything else I should know?

Wash it easily with soap and water.  Store it in your shower, or under your sink, or just about anywhere.

Where’d ya get it?

Man, that really sucks, I could really use one of those as well, but to be honest when I saw the picture before I read your review I though “Hmm, I’ll believe it when I see it”

@ K2theF It could be my wall. It could be that on a better shower wall it’ll hold. Who knows? Certainly not I.

Well,I’m glad to know it’s not just me! :-p I just got one and just like you said, have tried it multiple times in multiple ways and it does not work. Today I got it to stay on long enough to shave one leg, but when I tried the other, it slid and popped off. I give up. Good thing I didn’t pay full price for it.

@ Joanna Yeah I was disappointed. I finally tossed it the other day. Lol.
