Ooo, what’s that?

That? That’s just the brand new, hot off the presses, limited edition (for the holidays) Heart Wedge by Liberator.  Yes.  I said “brand new” and “limited edition”.  Yes, I’ve already got one.  Well, la-di-da, aren’t I just special? Pretty much.  (Kidding!)

So I get this email saying they’ve got this stupendous new idea, and it’s in production, and do I think I have time to review it.  And I say, of course, absolutely I have time to review it! Brand new? Hot off the presses? And Liberator wants me to be one of the first to have it?! You’re damn right, I have time! And the first thing M and I did was do a shoot with it.  But naturally, I didn’t think to make Him take all the pics I needed for this review, so I had to do that myself.

Yes, that’s my cat in the background.  She’s been acting pretty crazy today.  The few photos I managed to get without her in them somehow were a minor miracle.  Especially when I laid down that yellow sleeping bag.

What’d it come in?

Most of Liberator’s shapes come in a plain brown cardboard box, all sealed up inside in some sort of plastic bag.  This one was no different.  It was sealed up in a clear plastic bag, with a tag tacked to the velvish and polyester covers.  And, as all Liberator gear does, it came with Liberator’s Position Guide Flipbook.

How’s it made?

The Heart Wedge is, obviously, shaped like a heart.  It’s eighteen inches wide at its widest point, twelve and a half inches long, and seven and three-quarters inches tall at its tallest point.  The point at the bottom of the heart tapers down to about an inch wide, and about two inches tall.

The polyester lining.

The outer shell is made of beautiful Merlot velvish that is removed easily for machine washing by way of the same sturdy black zipper found on most Liberator shapes.  It feels strong and durable.  It’s soft, and feels almost like velvet.  Just like most other Liberator stuff, it picks everything up.  Mine’s currently covered in bird feathers, and I must have brushed it a thousand times while I was taking pictures.

The inner shell is made of black water resistant polyester, same as the BonBon.  It, too, zips off for machine washing.  It’s satiny, and soft.  It doesn’t stain.  Pretty much everything wipes off with a washcloth.  And it dries super fast.

The core is made of Liberator’s Champagne Foam, which is a furniture-grade polyurethane foam that feels closer to memory foam in quality than the foam you find in your couch cushions.  It’s sturdy and dense.  It’s supportive, and doesn’t squish much at all, even under my weight.

What’s it for?

This heart-shaped wedge is meant to be helpful in all sorts of sexual positions.  Place it under your butt and back to lift your hips for deep penetration and ultimate g-spot stimulation.  On your stomach, tuck it up under your hips for nonslip, easily sustainable doggy-style.  Use it with other shapes.  Buy it as an inconspicuous, yet suggestive gift for someone inconspicuous, yet suggestive.  Hell, you can even take this light-weight positional aid on the road with you.  Thanks to how much smaller it is than the Wedge, it doesn’t take up much space.

How is it?

Rayne’s Rating:
Pros: Cons:
absolutely adorable
high quality materials
velvish cover
waterproof shell
stable
holds my weight well
tag tacked to velvish
and polyester covers

When the Heart Wedge arrived, I was a little worried about its stability.  I mean, I’m a big girl, and that’s a tiny point! I wasn’t sure if it was going to hold up to my weight, or stay still.  Or, for that matter, be as supportive as Liberator’s Wedge.  Especially considering the five and a half inch difference in width.  So I lay on the floor with both of them, alternating between one and the other, for a good twenty minutes or so, to see how much different they feel.

My ass almost matches up perfectly with those humps.

First, let me talk about the fact that my hips are wider than eighteen inches.  Not much, but a little of my hips hang off either side.  But when I say they hang off, I’m talking about maybe an inch of flab that isn’t able to rest on the humps.  The vast majority of my hips and back are supported by this thing, and the only reason I even noticed was because I put my hands on my hips while I was laying there.

I won’t pretend it’s not noticeable that this shape comes to a point rather than having a wide base on which to rest your back.  Even with clothes on, I could feel the difference.  However, this does  not detract from the stability or support of this shape at all, since the part you need the support in (hips and lower back) are fully supported by the pillow.

I have one suggestion. Tack the tags to the tag on the zipper, and not the covers.  That teeny tiny piece of plastic was apparently large enough to leave holes in the waterproof cover.  I don’t really care that there’s not yet a gear bag.  This adorable little thing sits in my living room in that rocking chair it’s in up there.  And oddly enough, it fits.

What I’m trying to say, in case you haven’t gathered from my blathering, is that I absolutely adore Liberator’s Heart Wedge.  It’s the same quality as Liberator’s other shapes, which is particularly impressive to me, considering how many adult companies slack when it comes to special editions, approaching them more as novelties than something people would enjoy using.  In my living room, it just looks like a throw pillow to anyone who doesn’t know about Liberator.  And I mean… It holds my weight.  That’s pretty spectacular.

Anything else I should know?

Champagne Foam: My advice to you, dear reader, is to put your champagne foam core somewhere that there is no possible chance of it ever getting dirty when you’re cleaning the other two shells.  Cause when it’s in them? Ain’t nothin’ getting through to this baby.  In any case, if you do have to clean it, a damp cloth will suffice.  Just be sure the foam dries completely before replacing the covers.

Polyester: If you’ve read my BonBon review, then you already know how to care for this cover.  It’s machine washable, but more likely than not, you’ll only ever have to spot clean it.  But if you do machine wash it, use the gentle cycle on cold, and drip dry or tumble dry on low.  If you tumble dry, be careful not to over dry, as it will shrink.

Velvish: I have been Googling like mad for actual care instructions for velvish, and I honestly can’t find any.  Weird, right? It’s gotta be my lame Googling skillz.  In any case, I wash it in cold water, tumble dry it on low, and take it out of the dryer a little before it’s dry, and let it line dry the rest of the way.  Just makes it easier to be sure it’s not gonna shrink.

Where’d ya get it?

This would match my sheets and I just totally need it. I see it coming in stock at a few different stores now, I wonder if they changed their mind about making it limited? I hope so anyway, it will be a month or so before I can buy one.

And also, I have a little chair like that one too!

@ Misfit Momma aka Missy I’m really not sure if they did or not, but I could ask someone, if you like. Maybe you’ll get lucky and win my contest and be able to buy it with gift cards!

And the rocker was my birth mother’s. It’s falling apart, but I can’t bring myself to get rid of it. I’ll probably just buy wood glue and put it back together.
