Different Views: M v. Me

M and I are so completely different, in various areas of our beliefs, political views, the way we see the world and people in general, that it would almost be laughable if it weren’t so horribly tragic.

His view, I mean, is horribly tragic. ~snicker~

My great-great-grandmother died when I was… Five? Six? I can’t remember, exactly. But we lived in Louisiana at the time, so I was still pretty little.

I was devastated. I knew what death was. Death had claimed my birth mother, and I never saw her again. And now, another woman who was a key part of my early childhood years had been claimed by death.

But while she was alive, she tried very hard to teach me the decades of wisdom she had to share. And for the first few… weeks? months? after her death, I would listen to her voice in my head whispering all those little pearls.

The clearest memory I have of her is a day when I bounded into her bedroom, and climbed up on her bed. She gave me her last piece of Juicy Fruit gum, and asked me why I was frowning. I don’t remember the reason I gave, but I remember her response.

She said, “Look for the silver lining, Bunny.”

When I looked confused, she said, “There’s always a silver lining. Just because we don’t see it, at first, doesn’t mean it isn’t there.”

So I sat for a moment, and thought. And when I couldn’t come up with one, she told me what she thought.

I remember being upset. I remember not liking her idea of a silver lining. I don’t remember the last things we said to each other, but I know that I talked to her, at least, after that, and that if it had been on harsh terms, she would have forgiven me. I was, after all, only a child.

My great-great-grandmother believed there was good in everything. You just sometimes have to look closely to see it. And she always did her best to find it.

She thought everyone deserved forgiveness, and a second chance. And she freely gave both.

She enjoyed giving more than receiving, and didn’t mind so much if she didn’t get back what she gave. She said some people needed more than others, and that was okay.

She said that if you believed in someone, they would rarely let you down. That most times, all anyone needed was someone to believe in them to help them be great. And she regularly told everyone around her how awesome they were, how much she loved them, how grateful for them she was, and how great they were going to be when they figured out their purpose in life.

I never once heard her speak a harsh word to anyone, though I suppose that could be due, in part, to her belief in keeping negativity away from children, allowing them to maintain their innocence a little longer. In her home, when the news, or politics, or family troubles were discussed, children were asked to leave the room. Or the adults did.

Hers was a different world.

She was in her twenties at the start of Prohibition. She was grown, married, and had children during The Great Depression. And through all this, she maintained her faith until her dying day.

When asked about it, she would reply, “God has a plan for us all. We may never know what it is, but when we’ve achieved it, he’ll call us home.” She firmly believed her god only gave his worshipers shitty circumstances to make them stronger.

While I don’t share her faith in the Christian god, or her belief in a predestined end game, I admire her tenacity, and I do share her positive outlook on the world.

I like being neighborly, and try to treat people how I’d like them to treat me. I enjoy giving, and helping out, and being a friend. I try to look for the silver lining in everything, and the good in even the worst person.

I believe that the human race can be so much more than it is now if it wants to be. We just have to want to be. And I believe there is a way to bring about this change without killing each other, or trampling the rights of the minority, or ruining anymore lives. We just have to find it.

I think M thinks my views are naive. I think He hears, “You gotta look for the silver lining, Bunny.” and it sounds to Him like the speaker is saying, “Ignore all the bad stuff, real or imagined. Just pretend that doesn’t exist.” when in reality, what they’re saying is, “Deal with the bad stuff, but focus on the good, for the good is really all that matters.”

M dwells on the bad quite a lot. Not all the time. But enough that it’s noticeable.

Long after things have been resolved, He’s still thinking of all the reasons the problem was fucked up in the first place. He’s still picking apart ways to fix it. And He’s going over things He can do to prevent it from happening again.

If it hasn’t happened yet, you can be damn sure He’s considered it, and He’s putting a contingency plan into place in case He can’t get around it, but He’s concentrating on how to avoid it altogether.

He can’t help it. It’s the OCD in Him. And that OCD is what makes Him an amazing network/systems administrator.

He thinks humans are inherently bad. He’s convinced the whole world’s out to get each other. He believes most people are just looking to get something from everyone they know. He says people like me, who believe in helping one’s neighbor, are few and far between, so you rarely get back what you give, and it’s not worth the effort. And He thinks it will take some seriously earth-shattering catastrophe to change any of the things in the world today that He believes need changing.

He’s convinced He’s just a realist living in a world full of people who can’t accept reality. His slave included. He won’t even consider the notion that He might be more of a pessimist than He thinks. And He sure as fuck doesn’t believe in any of that “mind over matter” or “positive thinking bringing about positive things” crap. (But He’ll never give it an honest try, either.)

He’s a logical man in an illogical world expecting everything in life to come down to numbers. Murphy’s Law is the only mysticism He believes in. Everything else can be explained scientifically. We just haven’t figured out how yet.

And He doesn’t see how this proves the point of the people talking about positive thinking. Most of them would take one look at Him and say, “Jesus, dude, no wonder your luck’s so shitty. You’re always convinced it’s going to be!”

His slave included.

To which He would happily respond, “That’s a load of bullcrap.” in His best Eric Cartman voice, without getting the irony of Him imitating a character that firmly believes in grabbing life by the balls and making it work for him, rather than just accepting what it hands him.

I find myself quite often overwhelmingly frustrated. He’s got a million and one arguments that are all completely viable.

Just because He wants something, doesn’t mean He’s gonna get it. Just because He tells someone they’re being an asshole, doesn’t mean they’re gonna stop. Just because He stands up for Himself, doesn’t mean He’ll get the respect He deserves. Just because He believes we deserve it, doesn’t mean we’ll end up healthy, wealthy and wise.

And I usually respond to that with, “You’ll never know if you never try.” But He’s so not a risk-taker. He analyzes each situation, and if He can’t find a way around the risks, He doesn’t do it. It’s rare that something is worth the risk to Him.

I know there’s gotta be a middle ground in there somewhere (I’m also huge on compromise.), I just haven’t a clue where it is.

And I know M would be happier with His life in general (Excluding His relationship with me… According to Him, He’s always happy with that. Even through the rough patches.) if He could find a way to prepare for the worst but hope for the best, rather than leaving off that last part. I just don’t know how to help Him with that. Or if He’s even interested in it.

I guess I just don’t like to see Him stomped on. And I feel like if He’d roar back, He’d at least get a little closer to where He wants to be.

But at the same time, I know He’s a little right, too.

Wanting something doesn’t always make it happen. Knowing your right doesn’t always make people believe you. And believing in your own way doesn’t always mean your way is right.

But you’ll never know unless you try.

This month has been a month of epiphanies.

I realized I kinda love myself, which is an awesome change from hating myself.

I’ve adopted the motto “Just do it!” Most of the things I want to change about myself are things I have to get off my ass and do. Nobody can work on my memory issues but me. Nobody can learn to control my eccentricities but me. So I need to just do it already.

30 Days of Kink: Dom, Sub, Switch?

A year ago, I asked almost the exact same question (log in required) on FetLife in a group I mod called Don’t Define Me (Come on in and gab with us. All are welcome. There’s never been any drama. And I’m running out of topics to start, so start some! Lol.). Not being one to ask a question and not answer it if I have an answer, I responded:

Right now? I guess submissive wife is the best title for me.

We’ve long since let the strict M/s fall by the wayside in the interest of saving our marriage. He still owns me. I still obey. But a lot of the rules and ritual was let go temporarily so I could get my head back above water.

That’s changing. We’re in the process of reimplementing rules and rituals that He let slide. Slowly but surely.

I’m looking forward to being a slave again.

I’m no longer just a submissive wife.

“Sexual Property” seems like the best description, these days. While I do still maintain the house, and have other duties besides just the bedroom, M’s current training mostly surrounds sexual service. The exception being His attempt at getting me back to a place where “Because I said so.” and “Because you’re the slave.” are acceptable answers in my mind.

Not that they ever stopped being acceptable answers in reality. They haven’t. He’s allowed to pull rank whenever He feels like it, and it’s my duty, if not my desire, to follow His orders/rules/what have you. That’s one of the perks of being Master.

But for a long time after I left, M explained every tiny detail of our lives, from decisions He knew I wasn’t going to like, to life changes, to what we spent money on. He wanted to make sure I knew He had no ulterior motives. That He was doing what He thought was best for us as a master/slave unit.

These days, more often than not, He responds with “Because I said so.” And I’m getting better about not replying, “But whyyyyy?” The leash is steadily tightening. And I feel myself gnashing my teeth, and yanking at the end of my chain, and clawing at the dying light that was M’s leniency.

But I am owned sexual property. And if it kills us both, He will tame me.

Mostly. There are parts to my wild side He intends to keep around.

Okay, so I totally forgot about this award, cause I suck. But it was given to me by Misfit Momma, and I’m totally appreciative, though I’m not sure what I did to deserve it. But I guess “versatile” fits, since I blog about whatever comes to mind, and not just one topic. So thanks!!

Seven Things About Me:

1. I have an extra hole in both my ears. I mean, besides my piercings. It started with just one ear, but another has developed as I’ve grown older.

They’re basically extra ear canals, only about the size of a needle, and they’re not located in the same spot as my ear canal, but the fold over it. You have to use a magnifying glass to see them. They don’t function like ear canals, but occasionally they drain fluid and get infected.

2. In my Beautiful Blogger Award post, I mentioned an activism project I was working on. It’s basically defunct. Keeping up with my responsibilities, reconnecting with M, and trying to get fit, is pretty much taking up all my time.

I’ll pick it up again, some day. I still really believe in it, and I wish I had more time for it. But right now, I need to be focusing my attentions elsewhere.

3. That kind of bothers me, because the world needs it now. But I don’t have time to maintain it, or get it the exposure it needs to bring about the change I’d like to see. So for now, I’ll just have to try other, less time-consuming venues.

4. I haven’t had soda in a month. Except that once when we drank whiskey. And even then, I drank it with sour mix and water (more water than sour mix) more than the soda. I’ve been drinking lots of water, instead.

5. For all the changes I’ve made to my lifestyle, I haven’t lost pound one. I also haven’t gained any weight, so I guess that’s progress. And for some reason, anything sweet starts to make me nauseous after only a bite or two. Interesting development.

6. When I make a typing error, instead of just using the mouse to move the cursor to the mistake, I backspace to the error, no matter how far back it is, and rewrite everything from there on. I… am a weirdo. But if you’ve been reading me for any amount of time, I’m sure you knew that.

7. I love myself. I know how that sounds. But please believe me when I say that is not arrogance. It’s a realization that caught me completely off guard.

I’ve spent so much of my life hating myself. Focusing only on my flaws, and ignoring the fact that there are some really awesome things about me. Just recently, I realized there are more awesome things about me than shitty things. And it’s really nice being able to honestly say that I love myself. Flaws and all.

An Eden Fantasys Reviewiversary Wiener!!

Product Review: Laya Spot by Fun Factory

Ooo, what’s that?

Can you tell I’m on a Fun Factory kick? I’m determined to try all their toys eventually. I’m considering purchasing a couple of their anal toys next month when I make my ginormous plug purchase. And by “ginormous” I mean “lots of plugs”, not “seriously huge plugs”. Perish the thought. Ow.

Oh yeah… I’m supposed to be telling you what I’m reviewing.

That’s none other than Fun Factory’s Laya Spot in vanilla/baby rose. A clitoral stimulator that runs on two AAA batteries, rechargeable or otherwise.

What’d it come in?

Fun Factory’s stuff tends to come in tan and red cardboard boxes with magnetic flaps and cut-outs so you can see the toy. The toy is always nestled in molded plastic for protection. They always have instructions and a lube sample. Toyfluid if the toy is silicone, and Bodyfluid if it’s safe to use with silicone lube. Laya Spot is made of elastomed and came with Bodyfluid. I think. It’s been a while.

How’s it made?

Laya’s four and a quarter inches of curved, velvety elastomed, which makes it phthalate free, odor and flavorless, and nonporous. Mine’s baby pink and vanilla, but it comes in a ton of other awesome colors. It’s not flexible in the least. Or squishy.

The battery cap is the vanilla end. On the back, it’s got these nifty little arrows and the words “open” and “close” so you know which way to open it. It turns about a third turn to the left, or counter clockwise to open, and rests comfortably in the palm of your hand while in use. Inside, you’ll find unmistakable marks showing which side is positive and which is negative.

Rest your index finger along the spine of the toy, and you’ll find the “+” and “-” buttons used to turn the toy on and off. Hold the “+” button for a moment, and the toy should rattle to life. Hold the “-” button at any time, and the toy should decrease in settings until it turns itself off.

The vibrations are located in the pink end. They’re rather strong, and diffuse rather nicely along the surface. And they travel the full length of the toy.

Laya’s best use is to stimulate the clitoris, labia and vulva. Its size and shape make it perfect for resting between lovers, and great for travel. You could probably even use it as a sort of travel neck or shoulder massager, thanks to its awesome shape.

So it took me a minute to figure out how to use the Laya Spot. For whatever reason, I was convinced the battery cap side was the side used for vibration. I… am a dunce. I think I was also drunk the first time I tried it, so that could explain some things.

It’s not crazy strong, but it’s not really weak either. It’s probably at about the same strength as other Fun Factory toys. But the vibes are sorta… rattly. They eventually even out, so long as I don’t move it, but who does that? Oh… you do? You’re weird. (I’m totally joking. Unless you like being weird. In which case, you’re completely and utterly bizarre. Unless you don’t like being bizarre. Or maybe you just don’t like being completely and utterly bizarre. Or maybe it’s just the utterly, because it sounds too much like cow boobs. In which case, forget I said anything.)

I just completely derailed myself, and, for a second, forgot what I was reviewing, even though it’s in my lap and the name’s right in front of me.

The Laya Spot!

I don’t like that it drains my batteries. In use and not in use. Leaving batteries in the Laya over night, when I went to bed at 2am, got up at 8am, and remembered I’d left the batteries in the toy around 11am (You keeping up? That’s eight hours.) completely drained two sets of brand spanking new batteries (because I forgot twice). And while it does say in the instructions “DO NOT LEAVE BATTERIES IN TOY” (Okay, maybe not in all caps. Or even bold.), you’d think that if they knew how quickly this toy drained batteries, and how glitchy it seems to be (I’ve read multiple reviews about glitchy Layas. It can’t possibly be that reviewers are always receiving the glitchy ones. The odds of that are pretty slim.) before they put it in production, they’d have done some research and tried to fix it. So this toy confuses me a little bit. It’s like Fun Factory’s redheaded stepchild, or something.

I mean, if it’s in the instructions, then chances are they already knew. But if not, they at least know now. So why not fix it instead of rewriting the instructions?

My “-” button is a little bit of a pain in the ass. It’ll only turn the toy off if I hold the toy with the vibration part in my palm, and use my pointer finger to push the button. Annoying, but not a huge deal.

When it’s not rattling, it has pretty deep, rumbly vibes like most of Fun Factory’s toys. And it’s definitely a great shape. I’m still sticking with Siri, though. It rocks hardcore.

Anything else I should know?

Use water or silicone based lubes.

Wash with antibacterial soap and water, or a toy cleaner.

Do not submerge this toy.

Learn from my mistake(s). Take the damn batteries out!

Getting Fit – Week 5

The other day, M said there’s a ton of shit He does to maintain my mental health issues and/or keep me from getting upset with myself over them. And it was a pretty solid wake-up call. So I’m in the process of looking around for mind exercises that won’t bore me to death, or cost me anything to do. If anyone has any suggestions, they would be much appreciated.

As much as I make fun of Cin for how much she organizes and re-organizes her days, and her computers, and everything else, I’ve been going crazy trying to keep this laptop organized. However, unlike Cin, I started this Macbook out the way I want it, and I’m gonna keep it the way I want it, and I’m hoping that’ll do wonders for keeping me on task. And also unlike Cin, I’m not gonna just suddenly decide I need to use different organization tactics, and reorganize the whole damn thing. And finally, unlike Cin, I’m not gonna make redundant lists and spreadsheets all over the place. (Don’t worry. Cin knows I love her, and I’m mostly teasing. Mostly.)

I found out that Stickies is a standard dashboard widget on Macbooks (or at least on my Macbook), and added it to my dashboard. Speaking of which, hold on one sec while I go scratch something off of it….Okay, that’s finished. Wanna see what my dashboard looks like? I’m still working on telling the bitch downstairs no. She’s a pushy so-and-so, and continues to ask until you say yes. Last night, though, I made her bring her ass up here to borrow something from me, and then made her give it back to me before I went to bed so I could be sure it came back. And it was a good thing, too, because her phone was stolen, and she busted pretty much everything in her house. Herself. And today, I put my foot down, took my phone from her, and walked my happy ass upstairs. So yay me.

And I still feel like an asshole for doing it, because honestly, what was walking up and down the stairs hurting? Well… my free time with Master is what it was hurting, so now I don’t feel like an asshole anymore. Yay me again.

See? I’m getting better at this already!

Today makes the second day we’ve worked on the porch, which I love. I can’t decide which is gonna be better. A late summer day like today, when there are a few puffy gray clouds marking the beginning or end of a storm, and a cool breeze whipping the leaves off confused trees that thought sure summer just began, or the first autumn morning we spend in this spot, sipping hot coffee and eating a bagel sandwich. Me in my giant, fluffy, green-striped sweater that’s probably three or four sizes too big for me (I believe I’m much larger than I am, and hate shopping for clothes. Not so much the shopping part as the trying clothes on part. So the vast majority of my clothes are too big for me.), and M in His black one that He looks so hot in. The one I insist on wearing because it feels good to have Him so close to me.

A yellow leaf just landed on the balcony beside me. Fall’s coming early. My neighbor said his mom’s telling him she’s already raking up leaves in North Carolina. Southern falls are the best. The crisp, cool air is a good ten degrees warmer than New England falls. Of course, there are less apple orchards.

Our walks are sporadic, but we’re trying.

Oh! A Dandelion seed just landed on my keyboard. Oops. The wind picked it up before I could.

Yeah… I’m probably not going to get much work done outside. Which only means I need to get my ass in gear earlier in the day.

We’ve got $4, and payday’s not till Monday. But I’m pretty sure we’re set till then. We should be. I hope. Though I’m not sure what I’m doing about lunches till then. We went through our lunch foods faster than anticipated. But that’s cause we resort to sandwiches when we run out of healthier snacks. Gonna have to do a better job of shopping this pay period. Maybe even make a meal plan! ~gasp~

I’m supposed to do that anyway. It used to be one of my weekly tasks, and wasn’t ever really dropped. I just got frustrated because we never stuck to it. I think this time around, I’ll just make out a general list of things to make over the pay period, and not worry about assigning them to days. That way, if we have chicken on Saturday, when I’d considered making beef, it’s more of an idea than a cemented plan, and I don’t feel like all my hard work making sure each meal was different, and the week’s menu flowed nicely, was for nothing.

So that’s where I am, right now. Flighty as all hell cause it’s flipping gorgeous outside, and trying to stay organized to make our life less hectic and by-the-seat-of-our-pants. At least we’re steadily making progress. For now.
