A Sexual Sonata

November 24th, 2009 rayne No comments

EN-AB-1101-23_001_mdOoo, what’s that?

That? That’s just the awesome-ist rabbit-like vibrator I’ve used, so far.  It’s called the Symphony Dolphin over at TabuToys.com, but Evolved calls it the Waterproof Dolphin Sonata.

What’d it come in?

The Dolphin Sonata came in the traditional tin box that we all know and love.  Only this red box, decorated with a black tribal design and the words “Love is back”, has a lid (complete with clear plastic window) that lifts completely free and is held closed by metal flip up clasps.  The toy was snuggled comfortably in molded black foam inside.

How’s it made?

This toy is eight and one half inches long, six of those being insertable, and one and one half inches in diameter.  The shaft is soft blue TPR, as well as the dolphin, and the handle is satin finish hard TPR.

Both the dolphin and the shaft have bullet vibrators inside, which you can see through the TPR.  The bullet in the dolphin is close to the handle.  The one in the shaft is a little over half an inch from the tip.  They vibrate at the same speed and intensity and are controlled by a small push button on the bottom of the toy.

The shaft is sort of shaped like an ocean wave, rolling from dolphin to tip, and is amazingly flexible.  There are shallow wavy lines along the sides that give the appearance of a dolphin jumping in the sea.  It also has a couple of nubs that are about a tenth of an inch or so high.

The handle unscrews to reveal a removable battery compartment which just tickled me pink.  It’s clearly labeled with which way the batteries go and shaped so it’s impossible to put the compartment in the wrong way.  For someone like me who’s always wrestling with the batteries, that’s frickin’ awesome.

What’s it for?

The flexibility of the shaft and its curves are designed with your g-spot in mind, while Flipper laps at your clit.  Each luscious curve and bulge stimulates all the right spots with little to no effort.  The softness of the shaft allows it to mold to your anatomy.  And the placement of the bullets ensures the vibrations travel well through the TPR.

How is it?

Incredible.

Unlike some Evolved toys, the Dolphin Sonata has powerful little motors in both of the bullets.  The dolphin and the tip of the shaft are both excellent for pinpoint stimulation, as well as deep penetrating stimulation.  It’s dense and flexible, while remaining firm enough for exact g-spot stimulation.  And it’s just girthy enough to make any size queen squeal.

I might not suggest this toy to a beginner, though.  While it is only one and one half inches at its widest, the waves tend to give it a feeling of being much girthier.  Other than that, you cannot go wrong with this toy.

How do you care for it?

This toy can be washed with any toy cleaner or mild antibacterial soap.  I store it in its box, but if that isn’t possible, I’d suggest its own ziplock bag.  When sharing between orifices or partners, your best bet is to use a condom, as TPR cannot be disinfected.  And make sure the word “Evolved” is directly under the dolphin when using under water to ensure waterproofing.

Where’d ya get it?

The awesome folks at TabuToys.com sent me the Dolphin Sonata, free of charge, in exchange for an honest review of the toy.  TabuToys.com offers discreet, private shopping to men and women of all sexual orientations.  Aside from their selection of over 3000 hand-picked toys, they offer good reading material such as Sex Toys 101 and Buying Your First Vibrator.  And to help you pick out just the toy you’re looking for, they have an excellent Sex Toy Quiz.

Double-ended Purple Lover’s Dream

When Babeland showed me the waterproof Fusion Duality by Evolved, I was skeptical.  Anyone who knows me knows I’m very visually oriented.  So the beauty of a vibe turns me on to it almost as much as the other aspects.  And in the pictures, the Duality looks flat and plain.

But I figured, what the hell.  You can’t even begin to judge a vibrator by its photograph.  And when Cin told me she was reviewing it, too, I thought, “Opportunity! Here’s our chance to compare our vibe tastes!”

When it arrived, I ripped into the box, barely taking my eyes off it long enough to avoid tripping up the stairs.  I didn’t realize the Duality was by Evolved until I opened the box, so imagine my surprise when I pulled a white tin sporting “Evolved” in purple letters floating on black trim out of the plain brown cardboard.  It was instantly obvious that the photographs of this toy do not do it justice.

I flipped open the lid and wrapped my greedy little hands around the center of this lilac beauty and grinned dizzily as the pads of my fingers met the soft, matte finish plastic.  But when my eyes fell on the silicone buttons I wondered if their placement might be troublesome seeing as they’re located right where my hand gravitates: The center.

True to its name, the Duality has two functional ends.  One side sort of reminds me of anal beads, though it doesn’t taper down quite as far as beads tend to.  It’s three insertable inches of bumpy ridges.  The other side is a g-spot, or p-spot, stimulator with five inches insertable.  And in the center are two triangular buttons between a Fleur de Lis and a heart.  Read more…

Diamonds for Your G-spot

October 4th, 2009 rayne No comments

I am deprived!  I only recently discovered my g-spot and when Vibrator.com offered me the Diamond Lustre, a g-spot vibrator by Evolved, I hadn’t found it yet. So a g-spot vibrator to add to my repertoire of things to aid in my search was just what I was looking for.

It just so happened that a week or so before I recieved the Diamond Lustre, I found my g-spot with the WWV. And it was amazing. So I was even more excited when the Diamond Lustre arrived.

When I pulled this toy out of the box, I ooo’ed and ahh’ed all over the place. It’s beautifully adorable in its tiny brushed silver tin with Evolved printed in black against a red bar across a clear plastic window, through which you can see the toy. It rests beautifully in molded foam with red lining on top. On the back of the box is the toy’s description.

The Lustre is made of black plastic with a soft, satiny finish.  It has no odor or taste.  It’s phthalate free and body safe.  It’s got sixteen diamond rhinestones circling the bottom just above the dial on the bottom that controls the toy’s settings. It’s thin, light and hard with a hooked tip for direct g-spot stimulation. There is no give to this toy. But because of how small it is, that’s not really a problem.

This waterproof toy has an insertable length of three inches and is three inches in circumference. The whole length of the toy is four and one half inches. It takes one AA battery and seems to have three vibration intensities.

You can clean this toy with antibacterial soap and water, or simply wipe it down with isopropyl alcohol and store it in the box it comes in. I didn’t really need any lube with this toy. But for those who enjoy a little extra slip-sliding, you can use a water, oil or silicone based lube with this toy.

I really wanted to like this toy. Really. I mean, it’s simply and elegantly designed (I’m extremely visual.) and feels amazing in my hands. The nubby tip of the hook glides nicely along all the places you want it to glide nicely along, teasing and tantalizing all the way. But that’s about where it loses its shine.

The first thing I noticed is that the toy falls just slightly short of reaching my g-spot. I do seem to have longer-than-average anatomy, though, so it’s possible a woman with shorter anatomy won’t have that problem. No matter. I can use it for direct clitoral stimulation during partner play or something, right? So I clicked it on.

The Diamond Lustre is as quiet as it claims to be. Unfortunately, it’s not quite as powerful as it claims to be. I tried three fresh batteries hoping for a little more oomph, to no avail. While it certainly teases, that’s about all it does. It’s just not strong enough to push me over the edge as violently as I’m normally pushed.

I like to give sex toys a fair shot, so I tried this toy at least five times in five different scenarios hoping it would… I dunno. Magically grow a jack hammer, I guess. But it’s just not strong enough for me. However, “just right” for me seems to fall somewhere between extremely powerful and medium.

The Lustre is a great teaser and I’ll probably use it in partner play to tease M’s erogenous zones. It’s an excellent warm up toy, as well, for days that I’m in a lazy masturbation mood. But it probably won’t be the first thing I grab, otherwise.
