30 Day of Kink: Kink In the Vanilla World

30 Days of KinkFor the rest of this series, and links to others who have participated, click here.

Do your non-kink interests ever find their way into your kinky activities? If so, how?

I dunno if I’ve ever told this story. Huh. Seems I’ve been holding more to my breast than I’ve realized.

M’s a bit of an exhibitionist. I am, too, but I don’t get to pick when I get to be an exhibitionist. M does.

We’re also both huge nature enthusiasts. We love hiking, camping, fishing…if we can do it outside, we probably love it. Except baseball…M hates baseball. Which sucks for me because I fucking LOVE baseball.

Our Public Perception

We get a bad rap, you know that, don’t you?  The vanilla world, as much as they might like to pretend that they’re accepting of those of us in the BDSM world, would be appalled at some of the things we do, or worse, allow to be done to us.  I’m sure there are plenty of couples that experiment with a bit of bondage (that’s what the four post bed was invented for, right).  There may even be some that engage in a bit of slap and tickle.  But, every vanilla person I’ve ever seen come face to face with hard core, intense, BDSM reacts the same way, in display, if not in words.  “Ew, that’s sick.” Read more…

Relationship Foundations – Vanilla v. M/s

When Ten Things went live, M retweeted it, and it made me all sorts of excited.  M almost never retweets my posts.  Especially since so many of them have been on more of a personal level than an educational one.

So I asked Him why He did it.  And felt really silly about it.  But I wanted to know.

He said that it’s full of good points, and it’s obvious I’m trying to get back on track, and that I should write more posts like that.  He says He thinks they’ll help me.  I think He might be right.

There’s been a lot of grumblings around the kink farm about how M/s or D/s or O/p or what-the-fuck-ever-your-dynamic-is relationships needing the same basic things as vanilla relationships to survive.  (Yeah, I know.  I’m late to the party.  Again.  Shut up.Read more…
