The Last Word

August 3rd, 2015

A while back, Master and I were communicating with a friend via text message (M was driving, so I was texting) about plans for later in the day. When everything was squared away, Master was struggling with how to respond to the last thing our friend said; the last thing which had no real need for a response.

I mean, when it comes right down to it, we’re both socially awkward. I know how to be ‘the fun one’ at a party because that’s who my dad was when I was a kid, and I idolized him, so I just do what he did. M feeds off me pretty well, which usually leads to our table being the popular kids’ table at company parties (that and the fact that the company wouldn’t run without M’s department). But in reality, we’re both painfully shy. If either one of us was required to attend a function without the other, you’d probably find us hiding in the corner hoping no one talks to us. When it comes right down to it, we just don’t know how to act around people.

So when he kept asking, “What should I say?” I finally laughed and said, “You don’t have to say anything.”

“I don’t?”

“No. You don’t. The conversation is over. You’re both done talking. You don’t always have to have the last word.”

He stared at me so long I started to worry he was going to run into something.

“What?”

“So you’re a slave, and you want to be with a guy who doesn’t care if he has the last word?”

Well…yes.

With me, absolutely, he gets the last word. And if he wasn’t interested in getting the last word with me, I’d be concerned. I mean, technically, I get the last word (yes, Master), but he gets the final say.

But the thing is, he owns me. He doesn’t own our friends. From where I sit, walking around acting like you own the world is pretty douchey behavior. As far as I know, he agrees. And I know our friends well enough to know that they’ll only put up with it for so long before they stop being our friends.

Besides that, there’s something to be said for someone who knows how to conduct themselves in public. He may be the most depraved motherfucker with the most twisted desires (and believe me…he is), but that doesn’t mean he has to be a dick to everyone. (And he’s not. He’s probably the most respectful person I know.)

So, yes, I want to be with a dominant who doesn’t need the last word in every conversation he has with people who are not me. Who is capable of being a control freak without trying to control everyone around him. Who understands that life is full of compromises; especially when it involves people you don’t own.

I mean, I am his, after all. He’s trained me to respect the alpha male without a god complex simply by being that person.
