And off we go…

February 1st, 2017 No comments

I pretty much failed at my January goals. I’m not even a little bit upset about it, which tells me a lot about my relationship with this site that I wasn’t ready to face until now.

Not making 30 minutes on the elliptical wasn’t completely my fault, so I’m not going to beat myself up over it. The elliptical broke and it took us a week or so to get it to work again. And then we got sick, so we stopped doing it while we got better. I’m not upset about it. Shit happens. It was an optimistic goal, anyway. When I made it, I didn’t realize just how out of shape I’d gotten.

I’m not giving up. In fact, I’m feeling better, so I’m going to get on the elliptical later today, and hope to get back to my three days on, one day off schedule this month. I have a purpose, now, that I didn’t have in the beginning of January. I realized that climbing the hills on the local DEC land is making me feel way shittier than it should, and so I’m hoping that by Spring, I’ll be in better shape, and feel good after a hike, like I used to. I can’t wait to get back into nature. Read more…

Happy Thanksgiving!

November 24th, 2016 No comments

Getting into the Thanksgiving spirit has been nigh to impossible for me. I thought maybe listing some things I’m thankful for would help. So here we go:

  • Master, without whom I would have lost my mind by now. As it is, I’m pretty effing close. The election damn near pushed me over. Plus, I love him more, so…
  • My mom. We haven’t always seen eye to eye. Hell, we haven’t always liked each other. But these days, we’re as tight as a couple of people who suck at keeping in touch with each other can be. We’re currently planning a camping trip up here by me. I’m pretty excited. My mom is the queen of camping and I haven’t been camping with her since I was a kid.
  • The cats. Since we moved here, they’ve become closer to each other, which is adorable to watch. And neither of them can get enough cuddles and pets, which is just bizarre for Priss who has never really liked to be held. Despite Bash’s (much more occasional, these days) dickish behavior, they bring so much joy to our lives.
  • My friends. Whether online or in real life, and since the election especially, the people I’m closest to have really pulled together this year. It’s comforting.
  • Our new house. This place is incredible. We’re in the third month, and I still wake up every day and think, “Oh my God, we live here. How did this happen?”
  • The neighboring farms. We haven’t actually introduced ourselves to anyone besides the motel/restaurant owners. Mostly because our neighbors don’t seem to really interact with each other on any level, but also because we both suffer from crippling social anxiety. But sitting on my back deck and watching the horses grazing in the hills has done wonders for my sanity.
  • Our new landlord. He’s a friend of ours, so he falls under the “friends” heading above, but he deserves his own mention because he has been absolutely amazing. It’s nice being able to live somewhere that we don’t have to worry about the neighbors being dicks, or the landlord being a dick, or whatever, and without him, that wouldn’t be possible.

Here are a few things for you to be thankful for:

How I’m Feeling In Light of the Election

Reppin my team all day every day. You will never silence me.

Reppin my team all day every day. You will never silence me.

So on December 19th, and despite the fact that he lost the popular vote, the Electoral College will be electing Donald Trump to the office of Commander In Chief. Some say he won through voter fraud. Some say he won through voter suppression. But regardless of how he won, a proud racist rapist is going to be President of the United States.

Excuse me while I ugly cry. Again.

I’ve waited this long to post anything about it because I couldn’t talk about it without devolving into hysterics.

I keep having to stop and really think about what I want to say, because I want to make sense. I wanted to somehow talk about the election without calling out Trump supporters and 3rd party voters for their fucked up world view and ass-backwards logic. I wanted to believe that even though Donald Trump is openly a racist, a misogynist, a xenophobe, pro-life, and anti-marriage equality, things will be fine. Our country will be fine. Life will go on just like it always has.

But then the statistics from exit polls showed that white America happily trotted to the polls to vote a classist, racist, xenophobic, homophobic misogynist into office. And then Donald Trump picked Reince Priebus to be his Chief of Staff. And then he picked Steve Bannon, a known white supremacist and anti-semite, to be his chief strategist. And Trump’s tax plan is purported to raise taxes by about $3k for single mothers while drastically lowering taxes for the rich.

And holy shit. How can anyone claim Trump’s presidency is going to be a good thing? Read more…

In the News: #OrgasmQuest and the Dreaded Question

tl;dr: The awesome Crista Anne is fighting depression with an #OrgasmQuest, and even Dr. Drew is intrigued.

That up there is an amazing lady named Crista Anne. She’s a mom of four. She wrestles with depression and social anxiety. She does battle with fibromyalgia and migraines. And though she has always been a very sexual creature, she finds herself on an orgasm quest to end anorgasmia.

Crista Anne was once described by sex educator Ashley Manta thusly:

“She was a vision in rainbow. Like Lisa Frank and Rainbow Brite had hot sex and Crista was the result.”

I can’t think of a better description. Read more…

EXTRA NEWSiStock_000017765581SmallSo…

I hate doing this because if I say I’m going to do something here, you can pretty much guarantee I’m not going to do it.

In my defense, the things I’ve said I was going to do and then stopped doing them were giant flops1. Like the Get Fit series and the summaries of my writing elsewhere. Nobody read those things. No, really. Don’t make me pull out my stats to prove it. The numbers are embarrassing. But hey! At least I know my readers don’t really care if I’m fat for the rest of my life. That’s refreshing. Thanks, y’all!

So I figure no sense flogging a dead horse, ya know?

I usually don’t make New Year resolutions for just this reason. I know I’m not going to do it unless I’m really super passionate about it. And let me tell you…I don’t know how you fitness freaks can get really super passionate about exercising just to exercise and starving yourself of the most delicious foods on Earth. I really don’t.

But that’s okay. You probably have no idea how I got so passionate about being a slave (unless you are one, and in that case ~winky face~ you know). So we’re even. Read more…

My family’s gonna be here tomorrow! Hiatus and stuff.

August 8th, 2014 2 comments

Hey, y’all! I swear I’m not ignoring you. I miss you. I would love to be writing. But shit keeps happening, and I’m feeling kinda selfish with my thoughts right now, and so I’m kinda laying low.

Tomorrow, my sister, her fiancé, my niece, and my mom are coming up and we’re renting a house for a week near Saratoga Springs. The idea is to hang out and do family stuff around the area, and then put the baby (who’s not so much a baby, anymore…she’ll be 8 this year!) to bed, get out the adult drinks and games, and be adults in a way we have never been able to be because they live down there, and I live up here, and they usually have to stay at a hotel when they come here.

The hope is that M’s job doesn’t completely ruin it. That he can actually enjoy this time off. We’ll see how it goes. That project I mentioned is still going on, though they did manage to make the deadline. How awesome is that?

However, they’ve already basically taken away two days because someone else wanted time off, and somehow this is fair in everyone else’s mind but mine.

Anywho, I’m not going to be around much (probably) for the next week or so. I’m bringing my laptop and gadgets with me, but I don’t know how much I’ll use them. I mean, there’s a hot tub. And woods to explore. And family I haven’t seen in a while. And…yeah.

So anyway…I’ll be back! ~she says in her best Arnold impression~ I promise!
