Product Review: LELO Tiani 2

May 22nd, 2013

LELO-Tiani2-cerise-remote-controlled-couples-vibratorOoo, what’s that?

That is the Tiani 2 from LELO. We’ve had it and its predecessor, the Tiani, for a while. I waited to review it because I’ve been going through something, and before we moved there were serious distractions that made it impossible to do just about anything. Now, though, I feel like I can do this thing the justice its awesome technology deserves. So! Without further ado, the LELO Tiani 2 review.

What’d it come in?

LELO’s toys come in elegant black cardboard boxes with molded plastic inserts to hold the toy. That box is inside a paperboard box with an image of the toy, and the toy’s specs.

How’s it made?

Length Width Insertable
Tiani 2 3 1/4″ 1″ 3 1/4″

Like most LELO vibrators, the Tiani 2 is made of mostly silicone. Like the other Insignia products, it has a shiny plastic accent under the controls. It’s curved in the middle, and the curve is rather flexible to allow for insertion with or without a partner. Its surface is the same velvety silicone you’ll find on all LELO products, which means there is a bit of drag.

This toy’s manipulated by a wireless remote control that, along with all the typical vibrations and vibration patterns, can be driven by the movement of your hand. And the person holding the remote feels what the wearer is feeling because the remote vibrates, too. The remote comes with a key to open it via the slot in the cover (sorta like the kid toys you have to use a spoon or a butter knife to open), but I usually just use my fingers.

It’s waterproof and rechargeable, and comes with the charger. Charging it’s a snap. You just twist it open and remove the insertable side, then poke the pokey end of the charger into the hole and the plugy end in the wall socket, and voila! You’re charging, beebee.

It also comes with a pin reminiscent of an infinity symbol, only it’s got three loops. I wasn’t sure what to do with this thing because I don’t wear pins, but then I saw a picture of the pin laying on the black silk bag that also comes with Tiani 2, and a light bulb went off.

What’s it for?

If you can’t tell by now, this toy is meant to be used for couples sex. The slender arm and tight curve are designed to slip inside the vagina comfortably, leaving room for a penis. The fact that it’s completely wireless, virtually silent, and has SenseMotion technology emphasizes my favorite purpose for this toy, which is giving control of your pleasure over to your partner completely. You can even wear it under clothes for a sexy night out. As with every sex toy, this one can be used for solo use, as well. Just please don’t use it anally.

How is it?

Rayne’s Rating:
Pros: Cons:
made of silicone
strong vibrations
neat technology
quiet
not enough pressure
remote not rechargeable

I’ve heard great things about this toy.

LELO-Tiani2-black-handshotFor example, I’ve heard that it stays in the vagina better with the g-spot attachment than the original Tiani did with just the normal arm, but oddly enough, I didn’t have that issue. This is surprising because I have had that issue with every other couples toy of this sort that I’ve tried (I haven’t tried We-Vibe…yet), and one even had nubs all over it. The original Tiani, however, stayed inside for me.

However, I did feel more confident about it staying in, and get more stimulation with the g-spot attachment than the normal attachment. Something about that little nub makes you think it’s holding on better than the other arm, and logic tends to lead one to the conclusion that it holds on tighter. Whether or not it actually does, I don’t know.

I’ve heard the motor and signal are stronger than the original Tiani, but I didn’t have issues with the strength of either. The vibrations were plenty strong in the original, and even when I closed my legs, the remote operated perfectly. The vibrations are plenty strong in the Tiani 2, as well, and there were no issues with the signal.

The technology in this toy is fan-fucking-tastic. No other line on the market allows the wearer’s partner to feel what the toy they’re using is doing. Previously, if you handed a wireless remote over to your lover, they just had to guess what “low, medium, high” meant in terms of vibration, unless they had time to play with the remote and the toy extensively beforehand. And I cannot tell you how much fun I’ve had making my own patterns.

Unfortunately, when I use it solo, I have to hold it against my clit for the vibrations to do more than annoy me. There’s just not enough pressure created by the bend in the arm. Using it with a partner, I have to hold it steady. If I don’t, it wobbles all over the place, and, unless he grinds his pelvis against mine super hard (which is actually kinda painful), there’s still the problem of there not being enough pressure.

This makes me incredibly sad because I was SO looking forward to the hands-free aspect of this toy. Granted, if you want to change up the vibrations, one of you would have to keep at least one hand busy regardless, but since our kink is all about control, I’d hoped that person would not be me. I mean,

Anything else I should know?

LELO-Tiani2-deep-rose-contentsDo not boil this toy. I repeat, DO NOT BOIL THIS TOY. If you need to disinfect it for sharing, mix up a solution that is 10% bleach and 90% water, and wipe it down. Allow to dry before use

You can use any kind of lube with this toy that you like. If you’re worried about compatibility spot test on the side that isn’t insertable.

The remote control isn’t rechargeable. I’m sure you could use rechargeable batteries with it, but I didn’t test that theory. It’s possible that the remote’s signal wouldn’t be as strong, though. If you prefer rechargeable batteries, I’d suggest just playing around with it to see how it works for you.

Where’d ya get it?

I love the tiani, it’s amazing just fits perfectly in place and let’s me enjoy my ride. But I don’t like how the remote viberates kinda makes it hard to use in public.

I’d like to know the range of the remote. Especially for use in public. Will it work across the room?

This reminds me a lot of the We Vibe – have you tried that too? If so, how does it compare?
